Department Mission Statement
The mission of the Department of Emergency Medicine is to advance the specialty of Emergency Medicine for the direct benefit of the citizens of Wisconsin, and beyond. We will strive to do this by providing optimal and outstanding patient care for individual patients and families, while also recognizing the unique role our emergency department plays in filling the health care needs of our communities.
In addition, we strive to educate, mentor, and develop future leaders of Emergency Medicine, whether they devote their efforts to advancing emergency prehospital care, research, public health, or public policy. We aim to be collaborative across disciplines, specialties, health systems, and even countries. We will work towards our mission within a professional environment that supports and elevates the individual, while aiming to build a sense of community and purpose.
Administrative Mission Statement
Our mission is to support the Department of Emergency Medicine by consistently exceeding the expectations of our faculty, providers, learners and staff, through excellence in administrative support and talent.
Equity, Inclusion and Engagement
The BerbeeWalsh Department of Emergency Medicine is committed to the mission, vision and values shared by both UW Health and the UW School of Medicine and Public Health. At the core of these values and goals is the constant endeavor toward excellence in all that we do and toward fostering a culture of inclusion and respect among our patients, employees, learners, and the communities we serve. Through teaching, discovery and advocacy, we hope to promote equity in access to quality health care. We aim to serve Everyone, Every time, Everywhere.
We also strongly believe in the significance of servant leadership. Our providers and staff understand the importance of community health and seek to improve the lives of the citizens of Madison, WI and beyond by engaging directly with the community, particularly under-served populations.
